My Column in Working Mother Magazine

Here’s a humor piece I wrote that was in the Feb/March issue of Working Mother Magazine.  I wrote it last year when I was trying to talk to my daughter while editing the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction ceremony. Now, I’m in the edit bay on another Rock and Roll Hall of Fame show! Oh, and my daughter thinks she should get half of the money I earned for selling the article.

you kidding? you should give her all the money 😀 for an eleven year old, your daughter’s really, really smart and funny . . . . if you’re reading this Samantha, you’re plain awesome 🙂 . . . for the phone though, your mother’s right . . . you’re too young for it . . . in the meanwhile, a tiger isn’t too bad an idea 😉

OMG. My daughter and I are on the brink of this conversation. We said we would “consider” the cell when she turned 10. So that’s passed and my husband and I considered it and we “considered” it too soon. We are now leaning into 6th grade. Like your daughter, only her friends whose parents are divorced have cell phones for now. I’m expecting a bigger fight in the 5th grade.

haha.. kids are just too smart.. one false slip and you are done in… really enjoyed this post.. taking down pointers to implement when my turn comes…

  6. kids these days are getting into technology way too early! 4 year olds are given ipads as toys, and 7 year olds are given cellphones. What has the world come to??
