Both the painting and the dog are a little creepy. Funny, I ended up with my parents’ neurotic spoiled old Bichon who could never be housebroken AND thousands of paintings, direct mail advertising letters going back to the seventies, and everything in-between. I feel your pain.
You are so right. Even though the ‘things’ we end up with we would have never in a million years picked for ourselves, and they may be creepy, we can’t get rid of them for fear of severing that last connection with the past. Loved your story 🙂
